Sebum (skin’s natural oil secretion) plays an important role. It protects the skin from external aggressors and from drying, and maintains the pH balance to prevent harmful bacterial growth. However, excessive amounts of sebum can enlarge pores. It is natural for pores to become more noticeable, but some closed pores become visible, causing "cratering" on the face and interrupt cell turnover.
There are two important aspects of pore minimizing care. First, removing excess sebum, dirt and impurities will clear pores. Second, skin must stay hydrating with the proper and targeted skincare in order to prevent excessive amounts of sebum from reforming. Also, Vitamin C is a key skincare ingredient as it balances sebum and helps revitalize the complexion.
